About the Owner
Ron Pleasant, the owner and CEO of ROUND MATE, started his plastics career in 1969 as an apprentice mold maker with Kenton Tool & Die. During his 8 years there, Ron gained valuable experience with the building of small precision molds and the injection molding of plastic parts.
During Ron's 30+ years in the plastics industry, he has served more than 10 years on the Society of Plastics Industry Mold Makers Policy Board, where he has served as a past Chairman. For years, he has also served as a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, National Tooling & Machining Association, and the American Mold Builders Association. Ron Pleasant was even named Mold Maker of the Year in 1997.
Ron has been awarded 4 patents on the ROUND MATE System and authored a comprehensive Design Manual of ROUND MATE Molds. He also gives monthly seminars on solving production problems using unique quick-change interchangeable insert mold designs. More recently, Ron has been instrumental in pioneering the Skilled People Council, a manufacturing consortium organized to help resolve the shortage of skilled craftsmen in our local area.
How We Started
In 1976, ROUND MATE was founded by Ron Pleasant. Ron started the company in his garage with 2 employees. ROUND MATE quickly outgrew this space and we purchased a 5,400 square foot building in Belle Center, Ohio.
Within 10 years, ROUND MATE again outgrew the space and moved to a 12,500 square foot building in Huntsville, Ohio. 10 years later, during the fall of 1996, ROUND MATE purchased a 54,000 square foot building in Kenton, Ohio. ROUND MATE still remains in this facility and has since grown to employ 74 dedicated employees.
